REMEMBRANCE OF ALLAH

AHADITHS:
1. People will not sit remembering God without the angels surrounding them, mercy covering them, peace descending on them.

2. He who remembers his Lord and he who does not are like the living and dead.

3. Hadhrat Jaabir (RadiyAllahu Anhu) narrates that Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said: “The distinguishing factor between kufr and Imaan is the deliberate neglect of Salaat.”

4. He who does a good deed will have ten times the amount of blessings, and I [Allah] shall give more, but he who does an evil deed will have an equivalent reward of evil, or I shall grant forgiveness. If anyone draws the length of a span near Me, I shall draw the length of a cubit near him, and if anyone draws the length of a cubit near Me, I shall draw the length of a fathom near him. If anyone comes to Me walking I shall come to him at a run, and if anyone meets me with sins of the size of the earth, but has not associated anything with Me, I shall meet him a similar amount of forgiveness.

6. Hadrhat Abdulah Ibn Qart (RadiyAllahu Anhu) narrates that Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said: “The first act about which one will be questioned on the Day of Qiyammah will be Salaat. If Salaat is found to be proper, other acts will pass as proper. But, if Salaat is found there to be despoiled, then all other acts too will fail.”

7. Hadhrat Hanzalah (RadiyAllahu Anhu) narrates that he heard Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) say: “Whoever guards the five Salaat while believing that the Salaat is the Right of Allah, will enter Jannat.”

8. Hadhrat Bareedah (RadiyAllahu Anhu) narrates that Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said: “The subject of pledge which exists between the people and us (the Ambiyaa) is Salaat. Thus, whoever neglects Salaat has become a kaafir (i.e. in terms of practical life, not in terms of Imaan).”

9. A time will come to mankind when man will not care whether what he gets comes from a lawful or an unlawful source.

10. Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (RadiyAllahu Anhu) narrates that Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said: “Will there remain any impurity on a person who baths five times a day in a river flowing in front of his house?” The people said: “No impurity will remain on him.” Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said: “This is the effect of the five Salaat. By means of it, Allah Ta’ala purifies the performer of all sins.”

11. Hadhrat Abdur Rahmaan Bin Amr Bin Al-A’s (RadiyAllahu Anhu) narrates that Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said: “Salaat on the Day of Qiyaamah, will be a light, a proof and a means of salvation for the one who guarded it. He who neglects Salaat, will have no light, no proof and no salvation (from the direction of Salaat) He (the one who neglects Salaat) will be in the company of Qaroon, Fir’oun, Haamaan and Ubay Ibn Khalf on the Day of Qiyaamah.”

12. No body which has been nourished with what is unlawful will enter paradise.
(Baihaqi)
13. Flesh which has grown out of what is unlawful will not enter paradise, but hell is more fitting for all flesh which has grown out of what is unlawful.
(Ahmad, Darimi, Baihaqi)
14. The truthful and trusty merchant is associated with the prophets, the upright and the martyrs.
(Tirmidhi, Darimi, Daraqutni)
15. If anyone buys a garment for ten dirhams among which one is unlawfully acquired, God most high will not accept prayer from him as long as he wears it.
(Bukhari)

Indications of Beneficial Knowledge

Everything has its indications and signs. Indications that knowledge is beneficial are that it leads to fine character, good manners and praiseworthy attributes. In this regard it was said:

“He whose knowledge doesn’t cause him to weep, can be justifiably considered not to have been granted beneficial knowledge”, since Allah described the people of knowledge saying:

“Say believe in it (the Qur’an) or do not believe. Verily! Those who were given knowledge before it, when it is recited to them, fall down on their faces in humble prostration. And they say, ‘Glory be to our Lord! Truly, the Promise of our Lord must be fulfilled.’ And they fall down on their faces weeping and it adds to their humility.”
[Al-Qur'an 17:107-109]

Thus knowledge carries its possessor towards humility, prostration, crying, calling oneself to account and truthfulness with Allah.Indeed crying is the clearest sign and best proof of the knowledge one possesses and of a person’s truthfulness. What is the benefit of knowledge a person learns, if it doesn’t lead him to crying, humbleness, penitence and good dealings with the people?

Is not the possessor of knowledge one who knows most about his Lord? Has he not read about His Exalted, Perfect, Lofty Attributes that which causes his heart to humble and his eyes to shed tears? Has he not read in the Book of Allah and in the sayings of the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, texts pertaining to the Fire, the terror in the grave and the fearful accounts of the Resurrection because of which mountains are humbled out of the fear of Allah?

So compare your position to this – may Allah have mercy upon us – and don’t forget the virtuous saying, “He who’s knowledge doesn’t cause him to weep, can be justifiably considered not to have been granted beneficial knowledge.”

PRESCRIPTIONS FOR BARAKAH IN RIZQ [SUSTENANCE]

1. SURAH WAAQI’AH
The recital of Surah Waaqi’ah (Idha Waqa’atil Waaqi’ah. 27th Juz) keeps away starvation.
Sayyidina ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu says that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said:
“The one who recites Surah Waaqi’ah every night will never encounter starvation.”
[Bayhaqi in Shu'abul Imaan; Jazaa-ul-Aa'maal, Page 32.]
In a narration it is stated that Surah Waaqi’ah is Suratul Ghina. Recite it and teach it to your children. It is very mean to recite it with the intention of gaining a few cents. It should be read with the intention that the heart becomes free from want and for the hereafter. The material world will itself clasp its hands and avail itself.

2. SURAH YASIN
All desires are attained by reciting Surah Yasin.
Sayyidina Ataa bin Abi Rabaah Radhiyallahu Anhu reports that I have been informed that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said:
“One who recites Surah Yasin at the beginning of the day, will thereby attain all of one’s needs.”

3. Khidmah (serving) of parents:
It is stated in the hadith that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam has said:
“The one who desires great quantity in one’s rizq and age, should treat relatives kindly, and make khidmah of (serve) one’s parents.”
[Musnad Ahmed; Al-adabul Mufrad.]
4. ISTIGHFAAR:
Sayyidina Abdullah bin Abbas Radhiyallahu Anhu narrates that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said:
“The one who (regularly) says Istighfaar, that is, frequently repent to Allah Ta’aala for sins committed, Allah ‘Azza Wa-Jalla will open a path from poverty and difficulties. All sorrow and hardship will be removed, and in its place prosperity and contentment granted. One will receive sustenance from unimagined and unexpected sources.”
[Musnad Ahmed; Sunan Abi Dawud; Sunan Ibn Maajah; Ma'aariful Hadith]
Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam has said:
“The one who seeks forgiveness for Muslim males and females from Allah Ta’aala twenty six or twenty five times every day, Allah Ta’aala will count that person among those whose duaa is accepted, and through the barakah of whom those on earth gain rizq (sustenance).”
[Fadhaa-il Istighfaar, Page 18.]
5. SADAQAH:
Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam has said:
“Seek sustenance (from Allah) by the means of sadaqah, (i.e. by giving charity). By its barakah sustenance is increased.” [Bayhaqi.]
It is stated in the hadith, give sadaqah and treat your ill with medication. Sadaqah keeps away illness and increases one’s lifespan and piety.

6. COMFORTING THE WEAK:
Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam has said:
“Seek me (i.e. my happiness) by comforting the weak, it is because of the weak that you are granted rizq. Or he said: that you are assisted…”
[Abu Dawud; Khutubaatul Ahkaam, Page 133.]
There were two brothers during the time of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam. One of them use to attend the noble assembly of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, and the other kept himself busy in his occupation. The one who worked, complained to Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam about his brother (of not earning anything); Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said:
“It is possible that you are granted rizq because of him.”
[Tirmidhi; Khutubaatul Ahkaam, Page 49]
7. HAJJ:
Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam has said:
“Combine the Haj and Umrah, because the two keeps away poverty and sin in the same manner that a furnace removes rust and dirt from iron, silver and gold. There is no reward for a Mabroor (accepted) Hajj except Jannah.”
[Tirmidhi; Nasa-ee; Khutubaatul Kaam, Page 201]
8. Salaam when entering the home:
Sayyidina Anas Radhiyallahu Anhu says that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said:
“Son, when you enter your home say the salaam. It is a source of barakah for you and your family.”
Some ulama say, one who says salaam first to one’s family, will be blessed with barakah in wealth and offspring.
Sayyidina Abu Umaa-mah Radhiyallahu Anhu says that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said:
“There are three people to whom Allah Ta’aala has given surety. Allah Ta’aala is sufficient for them in this world, and Jannah is their abode in the hereafter:
a. The one who says salaam when entering his home, Allah is a surety for him.
b. The one who goes towards the masjid (to perform salaah). He is under Allah’s surety.
c. The one who goes out in the Path of Allah for Jihaad. He is under the surety of Allah.
9. Nawaafil of Ishraaq:
Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam narrates that Allah Most High has said:
“O son of Aadam, perform four rak’ahs nafl for Me during the first part of the day with ikhlaas (sincerity). I will suffice for you in your endeavours.”
[Tirmidhi.]
Observe! how reward is gained from Allah Ta’aala, also, how all endeavours are fulfilled? The grace of the deen and dunya has come to hand. People run hither and tither when in difficulties and flatter people. Would that! they turn to Allah Ta’aala and carry out the prescribed duties and perform salaah. Then their worldly needs will also be straightened out; abundant reward attained; and they will be saved from the disgrace of flattering and bowing to people.

Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam narrates the command of Allah Jalla Jalaaluhu:
“Remember Me for a little while after the fajr and asr salaah. I will suffice for you for the portion (time) in between.”
A hadith states:
“Remember (make dhikr of) Allah. He will aid you in your pious endeavours.”
[Ahmed.]
10. SALAAH
A Sahaabi Radhiyallahu Anhu says:
“When the household of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam experienced difficulty in their expences he commanded the performing of salaah, and recited this aayah:
“And enjoin upon thy people worship, and be constant therein. We ask not of thee a provision: We provide for thee. And the sequel is for righteousness.”
(Surah Ta Ha: 132)
A hadith states: “Salaah is the cause of Allah’s pleasure: It is a beloved act of the malaa-i-kah (angels); a sunnah of the Ambiyaa Alayhimus Salaam; the nur (light) of ma’rifah is achieved by it; du’aas are accepted; and barakah in rizq is attained;”
[Fadhaa-il Aa'maal, Page 315.]
11. CONCEAL ONE’S NEED AND HUNGER:
Sayyidina Ibn Abbas Radhiyallahu Anhu narrates a saying of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam that:
“One who is hungry, or is in need, and conceals these from the people, then Allah Ta’aala through His Mercy takes it upon Himself to grant the person rizq from halaal possessions for the year.”
